Take the next step in your career as an Activity Professional with training designed to strengthen your skills and set you apart. Enroll in the new Gateway-In Academy Activity Professional Training Course, approved by the California Department of Public Health.

This training course is ideal for individuals pursuing or currently working in roles such as Activity Leader or Director, Life Enrichment Director, Activity Assistant, or Program Director within California health care settings.

Designed for both current and aspiring Activity Professionals, this comprehensive training provides a structured, progressive curriculum that equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to develop, manage, and lead a high-quality activity or life enrichment program.

Course Details

What to Expect

This live, virtual course is conducted over four consecutive days (Friday–Monday) and requires active participation throughout each session. Participants should be prepared to engage via Zoom, complete assigned coursework, and take short quizzes to demonstrate understanding of the material.

To support full participation, students are required to access the course using a laptop, iPad, or tablet. Use of mobile phones is not permitted.

Once registered and payment is received, students will receive course access details by email one week prior to the start date, including the Zoom link, digital course manual, handouts, and homework assignments. Course materials are designed to be completed electronically, with the option to print for personal use.

To successfully complete the program, participants must actively participate, complete required assignments, pass all quizzes with a minimum score of 70%, and submit a course evaluation at the conclusion of the training.

Location

ONLINE (Zoom): All classes will be offered online with live instruction through a virtual platform (Zoom) on the actual dates of the class (8am - 6pm daily). Participants will receive course and login information once payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the LeadingAge California Foundation at education@leadingageca.org. Requests received at least 30 days prior to the first day of training will receive a refund, less a $150 processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received within 30 days of the training start date.
